Lance Corporal Harris was killed in action on this day but as yet there is no information as to the circumstances of his death. In June 1915, 4th Division moved to the extreme north of the Ypres salient relieving the French at Boesinghe and remained here until the end of July when they moved south to the Somme. 1st Rifle Brigade alternated with 1st Somerset Light Infantry in the left sector of the front held by 11 Brigade. This ran from the junction of the trenches with the Yser Canal, 500 yards south of the Boesinghe railway bridge, to the crossing of the Boesinghe-Cinq Chemins Estaminet and the Lancashire Farm-Zouave House roads.
